DIY Home Projects

Aaron and I have a pretty similar stance on DIY home projects. We will usually try to fix something ourselves before we call a professional. We usually find a YouTube video, we both watch it and decide if it is something we can tackle.

Our kitchen light went out a few months ago. And of course, it was the light right over the stove. It was summer when it went out, and we were super busy, so it wasn’t a priority at the time. Now that it is getting darker earlier it became a much bigger priority because who wants to cook in the dark?

We, of course, changed the bulb first, and that didn’t work. So the next thing I thought it might be was the switch. Before it went out completely, you had to flip the switch on and off a few times before it would turn on. I would get so frustrated becauseĀ I would mess with it for 5 minutes, and Aaron would just walk in and get it to work. We replaced the light switch a couple weekends ago, and that didn’t fix it either. So it had to be the light.

We finally had time to go to Home Depot and pick out a new light. I really didn’t care what the light looked like, to be honest. I just wanted it to work. We bought a LED light and came home to switch it out. The hardest part of the whole process was holding the old, heavy light up while Aaron disconnected all the wires.

The whole process from when we first turned the power off, to taking the old light down and connecting the new one took under 30 minutes, and now I won’t have to cook in the dark!

Now we have two more lights I want to replace since I know we can do it so quickly.
