My Must Have Hair Styling Products

When it comes to hair styling products, I definitely have my favorites.

I am fairly new to not washing my hair every day. I just started doing it this year, and I can’t believe how much time it saves me on the mornings I don’t wash it. I have found some products that help me refresh second (and sometimes third) day hair, and keep my cool blonde tone.

First up is my favorite purple shampoo. I feel like I have tried them all, and a lot of them leave my hair feeling dry. This AG Hair shampoo is the only purple shampoo I have found that doesn’t leave my hair dry or leave it with an overpowering scent. If you aren’t sure what purple shampoo is used for or if you should be using it, it tones your hair to keep your blonde a cool tone. My hair tends to get more golden toned the more I wash it without the purple shampoo, and that isn’t the look I am going for. I don’t use it every day, just every other or every third wash.

For washes that I don’t use the purple shampoo, I use the Matrix haircare line. They have a few different formulas that I like. I am using the Mega Sleek now, but I also like So Long Damage. Every summer Ulta has a sale on their liter bottles of shampoo and conditioner and I always stock up then. I go through more conditioner because I use it every time I wash, so usually get a couple of those.

On to styling products.

After every wash, I use Paul Mitchell Smoothing Serum on damp hair before I blow-dry. Not only does this leave my hair silky smooth and conditioned, but it also speeds up drying time.

To refresh my hair on day two or day three I use a dry shampoo. Just like purple shampoos, I have tried a lot of different ones, some super expensive some very affordable. After doing a lot of research, I have decided Batiste is my ride or die. It comes in 13 different scents, some stronger than others. My favorite scents are Nice, and Blush. If your hair is dark, be warned that it can leave a white residue. I spray my roots in the morning and rough it up with my fingers. My roots are a light brown, and the white spray dissolves just fine. Dry shampoos absorb oils and adds some texture to second or third-day hair. I will even use it on freshly washed hair to give it some texture and lift at the roots.

The newest product to my hair toolbox is Chi Dry Conditioner. I don’t use it every day, but sometimes my ends feel a little dry or look a little dull on non-wash days and this freshens them up. It is a waterless conditioning spray, so I don’t use it near my roots, just from the middle of my hair down to the ends. It works especially well after I have curled my hair, then slept on it. Or if I throw it up in a messy bun then want to take it down the next day.

Do you have any hair styling products that you cannot live without? I would love to hear about them in the comments.
