When I lived in Michigan I had my nails done religiously every two weeks for almost 10 years. My nail tech, Megan became a friend and I loved seeing her every two weeks just as much as I liked having my nails done.
When I moved to CA I didn’t know where to go, or the energy to find a new place to get my nails done. It’s almost like a first date finding a new hair or nail person, right? I didn’t want to try out multiple people and salons, so I just painted my nails myself.
I started to really enjoy the me-time that came with at-home manicures each week. I painted my nails every Sunday and it was my little self-care moment. My only complaint was that it wouldn’t last. I could usually get four or five days out of nail polish before it started to chip. Once it started to chip I would always pick it off.
I kept seeing ads for press-on nails on Facebook and Instagram, and I have to admit I was curious. I used to wear glue on nails all the time in high school. The quality was not great, and they didn’t always look great though. I began to see friends, family, and people I follow on social media try these glue on nails, so I decided to buy a couple of pairs and try them out.

I purchased two sets from Static Nails. I had a friend that used them and they looked really good in her photos, so I had to try them. I ordered the Peony Coffin nails (top) and the Sugar Floss Round nails (bottom). Both sets came with 30 nails, a file and buffer, and the glue. They arrived at my apartment in a few days, but they ship from California so they may take longer to get to other states.

I put on the Peony coffin set first. I like the coffin shape, but I knew these would be too long and I would have to file them down. I started by laying out the nails that fit each finger. Then I washed my hands really well with soap with no oil. I filed my natural nails a little to give the glue a surface to stick to, then rubbed each nail with polish remover to dry out the nail and clean it off.

I started from my pinky fingers on each hand and worked in toward my thumbs. I applied the glue all over my natural nail, and a little dot on the nail. I let both dry for 5 to 8 seconds to get a little tacky. I then applied the nail to my natural nail making sure they were straight. I applied pressure to each nail for 20 to 30 seconds before moving on to the next nail.

Once I had them all on I let them dry for a minute before I trimmed and filed them down. Since I haven’t had nails in so long, I knew I wouldn’t be able to function without trimming these. I used nail clippers to trim off the ends, then filed them until they were smooth.

They felt very secure and looked great! The package says they can last up to two weeks. I have never had anything last two weeks on my nails, so we will see but I am hopeful.

I have had these on for five days now and they still feel great! The package says you can remove and reuse them, so I will try to do that to get even more wear out of each set.
If you want to try these out, I have a $5 off coupon for you here.
Let me know if you try them and what ones you order. They have so many cute ones on their site!
