If you have ever been on a plane, or to a location with a different elevation you know what it does to your skin. When I fly my skin and hair get so dry and it feels like it takes me two weeks to recover. I have finally found a combination of products and prep things that I can do before I travel to lessen the impact it has on my skin.
The products I use leading up to any travel are Detoxifying and Moisturizing Mask, Climate Control, Nangai Oil, and Hydrating Facial Serum Mist. Here is how I use them to prep my skin.
Detoxifying and Moisturizing Mask
I use this every week or two throughout the year, but when I know I’m traveling I use it once or twice a week leading up to travel. I also use it immediately after I get home from any travel. This will clean all the gunk out of your pores, while also moisturizing your skin. It leaves my skin smoother and softer looking, and really helps to keep my skin moisturized and healthy.
Climate Control is hydration in its purest form. It will repair your skin at its deepest level and provides free-radical protection and maximum moisturization. I apply this morning and night for a week or two before my moisturizer. I used to use this in the winter in Michigan, but I don’t need it as much in the San Francisco climate. If I spend time in the sun I use it when I get home to help keep my skin moisturized.
Nangai Oil works to deeply moisturize your skin. The driest area of my face is right under my eyes, so that is where I put this instead of nighttime eye cream. I use EyeLuminator in the morning and Nangai Oil at night. This also works on the ends of your hair to smooth them and keep them from looking so dry.
This stuff is a lifesaver in the summer. I keep mine in the fridge and spray it on my face pretty much every time I walk in the kitchen. This will hydrate your skin through your makeup without ruining it. It feels so good and refreshing, plus it gives your skin a boost of hydration during the day.
The last thing I do is drink as much water as I possibly can. I shoot for 100 ounces each day leading up to travel. That is a lot of water. Drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your skin, and my skin is the first place I notice the impact when I don’t. It looks dull and feels tight and I know I didn’t stay hydrated the day before.
