Can you believe we are over half way through 2020? I can’t even wrap my head around that. It feels like it was March last week, but at the same time the days seem so long sometimes.
We started the first weekend of June off with our favorite take out from Osha. If you ever come to the Bay Area, go to Osha and split an order of Pad See You and an order of crab rangoons. They have the best crab rangoons I have ever tasted, and we have tried a ton of different ones. I was inspired to make my own version of crab rangoons in June, more on that later.
The weather was warm and sunny for most of the month, so we took advantage of the parks in the city and spent some time outdoors. We hung out with some neighbors at Alamo Square Park and took in the view of the painted ladies and the city.
We continued to run two miles a few days a week, and I can tell you it is getting easier (most days at least). Our time is better and I don’t notice myself getting winded as quickly as I did in the beginning.
I run so I can eat treats. That is why everyone exercises, right? I make 99% of the meals we eat, but Aaron makes 100% of the ice cream sundaes. If you don’t know, Turkey Hill Fudge Ripple ice cream is the best ice cream on the planet. We eat it in a glass for portion control with a little whipped cream on top.
Remember my S’more cookie fail from my May recap? I figured it out! I used my own chocolate chip cookie recipe and baked them for half the time, then I pressed the marshmallows in the top and let them finish baking. They were delicious.
The company Aaron and I work for has been building a new office for months now. We were supposed to open the new location in March, but it was delayed due to COVID. We finally got to go to the new office in June, and it is beautiful. We only go one day a week, and only a few people are allowed each day, but I’m so excited for the day when we can all be in the office together.
Outdoor dining finally opened in San Francisco on June 15th. Aaron’s dad and step-mom were in town for a few days, so we ate outside! We had never been to this restaurant before, but we will be going back for sure. The food was great and it was so nice to have someone bring it to me and take the plates away.
In typical San Francisco weather fashion, we tried to show Aaron’s dad and step-mom the Golden Gate bridge, but the weather didn’t cooperate. It was foggy, windy, and not very warm.
So, we drove 40 minutes East to Mt. Diablo where it was in the 90s and sunny. We drove to the summit so we could take in the view of the entire Bay Area.
This was my attempt at my own Crab Rangoon. I used crescent rolls instead of wanton wrappers. They were good, but not amazing. I will try again with wantons. I love anything in a crescent roll, but these could be better.
At the end of June we took a quick trip to Michigan to visit friends and family. I shared my tips for packing for a quick trip here.
Traveling right now is a little weird. The airport was empty, and security was a breeze.
Masks were required unless eating or drinking (I caught Aaron drinking coffee). Our lay over stops were in odd places, and all four of our flights were completely full. It was so good to see friends and family though! I don’t think we realized how much we needed the mental break.
I always think I miss Michigan summers. I don’t. That humidity is no joke. I also forgot how to dress for hot summer days. We always wear layers in San Francisco, and I feel naked without a top layer on.
I was able to get my hair cut after six months, and sneak in a pedicure with a friend while I was there. Both things were WELL overdue.
We saw friends and family, ate some great food, spent time outdoors, and relaxed for a few days, then made the trip back to San Francisco. Every time we fly back to Michigan we bring new things back to SF. This trip I found this cute straw fedora I forgot I had and wore it home.
The month of June ended with us getting back to our regular routine. I love to travel, but I also love to come home and get back to the daily routine. I ordered groceries from the plane so we would have all the produce and snacks delivered our first morning home. I also checked the things off my to-do list as the day went on.
June was a fun month, I can’t wait to see what July brings.
