San Francisco Has Changed How I Spend My Weekends

Since moving to San Francisco in January there have been a lot of changes in our lives. We live in an 800 square foot apartment, we walk almost everywhere, and the way we spend our weekends has changed.

Let’s use yesterday as an example. I got up around 8:30. Aaron was already up and getting ready to go to a Kung Fu class he takes in Chinatown. I drank a cup of coffee while scrolling though social media. I did two quick workouts at home (more on that in another post) then jumped in the shower.

By 10am I was dressed, and walking to Trader Joe’s to get some groceries. I got what I needed for the week, walked home, put everything away, and started a load of laundry.

While I was waiting for Aaron to get home I cleaned the apartment. It’s so small it only takes a few minutes. Plus we have a butler service that comes on Fridays, so I usually clean on Thursdays before she comes.

Once Aaron got home I made breakfast for lunch. Homemade breakfast is my favorite any time of the day. We sat and drank a second cup of coffee and made our plan for the day.

We decided to go explore the Mission District in San Francisco so we got ready to go and planned our route. Getting anywhere takes a lot more planning here than in Michigan. We chose to take the Muni Metro to get there which is part bus part subway (kind of). We were out the door for our Saturday adventure by 1:30 pm.

Our weekends have pretty much been like this since we moved here. We are so much more active than we were before. Part of the reason is that we have a whole new city to explore, but I also think it is just a new lifestyle for us. Even the days we just stay in and relax we either go sit on our rooftop or go to the gym or walk to dinner. I am really enjoying this new active lifestyle we have and I’m excited to keep exploring our new city.
