I don’t know what has happened to me, but I am very into hair scarves and hairbows as of late. I used to wear headbands and hairbows when I was a little girl, and I am bringing them back in my 30s. Every time I wear one I get questions about what kind it is and how I tie it, so this is my step-by-step guide.
The hair scarves I have are silk squares, I bought silk because it seemed more feminine, and I knew if I didn’t like them Aaron could use them as pocket squares. The blue one I show in this post can be purchased here.

I start by folding the scarf in half diagonally.

Then I start with the widest end and roll it up about 1 inch. I repeat this until the scarf is rolled into a thin strip.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, and it will move around because it is silk. If I always wore it the same way I would run an iron over it to make it smoother.

Then you grab the middle of the scarf. Where the end triangle is and that will go on the back of your head.

Place the middle of the scarf on the back of your head and bring the end up to the top of your head.

Then tie the ends just like you would tie a shoe. From this point, you can do one of two things.

The way I like to wear them is in a knot. I tie the scarf again so it is in a knot on the top of my head.

I then take the ends and tuck them on the sides. If you are worried about the ends coming loose you could secure them with a bobby pin.

When I tuck the ends in I tuck them in behind the band around my head so the bulk of the scarf is behind my ears.

Then I adjust the knot to the side my part is on. This is just a personal preference of mine, but I like it more when the knot isn’t in the center of my head, so I just slide it over.

The other way you could wear it is tied in a bow on the top of your head. I still tuck the loose ends into the band, but they are much shorter when it is in a bow.
I have also pulled half my hair back in a ponytail and tied the scarf in a bow around the ponytail. These scarves are a little thick for this, but I got the effect I wanted.

It would also be cute wrapped around a low ponytail or braid.
The hair bows I have been loving are sold out at Old Navy, but I found similar ones here.

They are hair bows that are attached to elastic hair ties. They are super cute wrapped around a top knot.

They are also adorable wrapped around a ponytail. They add a girly and feminine touch to a very simple hairstyle.
Have you jumped on the hair bow or hair scarf trend yet?
