Beachy Waves Hair Tutorial

Do you ever get in a hair rut with the way you style your hair? I have been wearing my hair one of three ways for years: straight, curly, or in a bun.

I was recently looking for different ways to style my hair and came across my old three-barrel wave tool. I haven’t used this thing in years. So long in fact, that I’m not even sure how it made the cut when we moved. But I wanted something new, right?

Here is how I did it:

  1. I wash my hair at night after I work out. I let my hair air-dry a little bit, then braided it in two french braids. These braids do not have to be perfect. I learned the first time around, that the ends of the braid need to be loose so they don’t get too crimpy.

2. In the morning I threw a shower cap on when I got in the shower (yes I shower in the morning too), then took the braids out and shook my hair loose.

Your hair will be pretty wavy just from the braids, and I’m pretty sure this is what keeps those waves in your hair all day. I just need to touch up some random pieces and the ends that were left out of the braid.

3. I grab my super old three-barrel crimper and touch up any pieces that don’t look right. I also add some waves to a few pieces of my top layer to add more volume there, and I touch up the ends that are still straight.

4. Once I have it as waved as I would like, I add some texturizing spray and finish with hairspray. To be honest, the first time I styled my hair this way I didn’t put any product in it and it stayed really well on its own.

You can watch the full process below. Can you believe I shot all these photos and video with no makeup on and a breakout on my chin? It’s real life, and it happens to everyone.

Let me know if you try this look. I love to see other people’s photos.
