I have had the urge to bring fall decor into my home for a couple of weeks now, so I’m doing it slowly. I know it seems early, but we have fall-like weather all year long in San Francisco, and I love to decorate, so I’m doing it anyway.
One problem I am going to have this year is that I brought almost no seasonal decorations with me in the move. When we moved it was fast and furious and I really didn’t know how much storage I would have at the new apartment. All that being said, I dug out the one box I brought of seasonal decor to find a couple of pumpkins, one sign, and a few fall scented candles.
I’m using this opportunity to start slow with fall decor and to be picky about what I purchase to add to the apartment. Being that it is a much smaller space than I am used to, it would be easy to go overboard quickly with seasonal decor. We also have two Savannah cats so I can’t have anything that is easily breakable.
I will be adding more items throughout September and October, but here is how I have added a few fall touches to our home.

These three pumpkins came from home. I either bought them at Target or TJ Maxx last year. They are fabric and cat-proof. I have them sitting on our dining room table, which folds down to be very narrow and save space. There is a link to the table here.

I purchased these flowers at Trader Joe’s this weekend and they give the perfect fall touch to our otherwise colorless desk area. The vase is from the dollar spot at Target, and yes it is in a post-it note holder. It is there so the cats can’t knock it off the desk.

I added a matching vase (also from the dollar spot at Target) and these plastic pumpkins from the dollar spot at Target to the top of our shoe cabinet by the entrance. I have extra pumpkins that will fill the other vases when the flowers die.

I added the rest of the Trader Joe’s flowers to a larger vase from the dollar spot at Target. Each of these vases was only $3. I feel like they can be used for so many things throughout the year and if the cats do knock them down, I’m not super mad about a $3 vase.

The other thing I have been doing for a couple of weeks now is diffusing fall scents in my diffuser. I also have a stash of fall scented candles I burn from time to time, but I like the benefits of the oils. The blend I have been using the most lately is Thieves and Orange, it smells so good. I will switch out those fake plants with more fall-themed ones once I find some I like.
I will keep you updated as I add more holiday decor to our space. I didn’t realize how white my apartment was until I took these photos either, so I will be adding some more color overall.
