At-Home Date Night Ideas

Date nights are so important in any relationship, and they shouldn’t have to stop because we are sheltering in place. I wrote a list of ideas for at-home date nights in my planner so we have a list to choose from when we want a date night. All of these can be done kind of spur of the moment or planned out in advance.

  1. At-home movie night

Pop some popcorn and snuggle on the couch for a movie night. If you have the Trader Joe’s Everything but the Elote seasoning blend you have to try it on your popcorn, it will change your life. If you don’t know what movie to watch, click here for a list of the 2020 Best Picture nominees from the Oscars.

2. Cook dinner together

I don’t know about your house, but in our family, I cook dinner while Aaron finishes up his workday or works out. Its fun to switch it up and cook a meal together. We have been using Home Chef for years, but cooking a Home Chef meal together is kind of like an at-home cooking class because they give you step-by-step instructions. If you want to try Home Chef, you can get $35 off your first box here.

3. Go for a walk together

If you live in the country or have a yard it is easier for you to get outside regularly than it is for us. We live in an apartment building and I don’t get outside every day. We go on one or two walks per week and just talk about stuff. What we want to plan for when this is over. Things we need to order/buy to make life easier. Plan our next friend’s date. We just talk and enjoy each other outside of our apartment.

4. Game night

We all have board games lying around, right. We just ordered Backgammon and dug out our cribbage game. Even if you only have a deck of cards you could play war. We open a bottle of wine and break out a game (or puzzle if you are into those) to break up the monotony of work, dinner, tv, bed.

5. Livingroom Dance Party

You could do this one with the whole family to burn off some energy. Make a playlist on Spotify, or turn on the radio, or tell Alexa to play your jams and shake it off in your living room. Dancing not only boosts your mood but is also good for your body.
