Monthly Recap: April 2020

Well, if I thought March was a weird month, April had to prove me wrong. Most of April was spent in our apartment, as our shelter in place order has now been extended through May 31st.

I have found a pretty good work from home rhythm, and I find ways to get outside every few days for some fresh air. I will never take going outside for fresh air for granted again. I didn’t use our outdoor amenity spaces the first year we lived here, but I can’t wait for them to open up again so I can sit by the pool and feel the sun on my face.

I have been reading every morning while I drink my first cup of coffee, and sometimes for a few minutes in the afternoon. I have a list and review of the last few books I have read here. I just started Jessica Simpson’s Open Book and so far I can’t put it down.

Aaron and I have designated work spaces for ourselves. The first few weeks we were switching back and forth, but for the last few weeks I have been working from the dining room table.

I have been baking new treats almost every week, these cookies are my favorite chocolate chip cookies ever.

I also feel like I have done 1,482 loads of dishes. Anyone else feel like that? We are only two people. How do we have so many dishes?

In an attempt to look at some new scenery, Aaron and I found a new path to walk or jog that takes us right by the ocean and the bay bridge.

We have also discovered that the cats don’t always sleep all day. In fact they love to make appearances on video calls.

I shopped the Sephora Sale and tried these new tanning drops that so far, I am loving. I use them all over my body and on my face.

I can’t believe it took me 33 years to discover this, but I realized if I turn my hands around it makes painting my nails 100x easier. Why didn’t anyone tell me this?

The weather was great for most of April, so we got outside a few times a week for a quick walk.

We are still practicing “casual Friday” in sweatpants, and I may have bought these Lou & Grey sweat outfits in ever color. Oh, and I bought a pair of shorts in the same dreamy material.

We met some friends (from a distance) and enjoyed some fresh air last weekend at a little park they found that wasn’t busy.

We just sat and talked for a few hours enjoying the view of the Golden Gate bridge. It was so nice to have a conversation with people that wasn’t on a screen.

I placed my second Winc wine order. I have tried three of the four I got in the first order and loved them, so I bought four more. I like to have wine on hand for gifts or to offer guests (when people could go outside) a glass when they come over.

We got to go to our old office a few days ago and pick up our monitors. I forgot how much I loved having a second, larger screen. I don’t love the fact that we have two giant monitors in our living room, but I love being able to see what I am working on.

We decided to switch up our workout routine and try going for a run in the mornings so we don’t have to shower twice a day. We were working out in our apartment in the evenings, and that was fine, but it was time to switch it up. I actually hate running. I’m not good at it, my lungs burn, and I don’t enjoy any of it. All that being said, this is an excuse to be outside, and people learn to love running, right? If you have any tips I would love to hear them.

That does it for April, let’s see what May has to offer…
