Have you ever passed a restaurant or seen a cool product somewhere and immediately googled it to get more details? If you have found a business with no social media accounts to be found, you know how frustrating it can be when you are a potential customer.
If you have a product or service to offer, you need to tell people digitally that you are “open for business”. Social media is a great way to connect with potential and current customers, get reviews or testimonials, and quickly share an update or launch a new product. Whether you are an Etsy shop, a food truck or restaurant owner, a consultant, or with an MLM, new customers will find you on social media.
I know it seems intimidating to have multiple other channels to stay on top of while you are also running a business, but trust me it is so important. With the right strategy, it doesn’t have to be hard or intimidating.
There are so many different social media platforms from Pinterest, to TikTok and Twitter, but I want to focus on the big two, Facebook and Instagram. Let’s break down why you need to be on and active on both platforms.
Facebook:
2.7 billion people use Facebook monthly, and 200 million businesses use Facebook to connect with customers. As a business owner, that represents a huge income potential.
The largest demographic of Facebook users are adults 25-35, that segment of the population represents over $322.5 billion in spending power. I bet you want a piece of that income pie.
Aside from the potential income from reaching your target audience on Facebook, think of your page as a free and constant focus group. You can communicate directly with your customers on a one-on-one basis. A genuine connection helps humanize you as a company or service and makes you more relatable to your customers. If they have questions about a product or service you offer, they don’t want to search for an email or phone number. They want to message your social media page or post the question on your wall.
Instagram:
Over 1 billion people use Instagram every month to look at beautiful photos and funny or educational videos. Over 80% of people use Instagram to research a product or service, and 50% have visited a website to make a purchase after seeing a product or service on Instagram.
Within the Instagram app you have a few different ways to connect with your customers. Feed posts are beautifully styled photos in the main grid, while Instagram stories are a great way to show off the behind-the-scenes of your business and connect with your community on a more casual basis. 58% of people say they are more interested in a product after seeing it in Instagram stories. You also have reels and IGTV posts, but we will get in to those in a later post.
Socail media is a great way to connect with your target audience, grow your fan base, and get in front of your customers on a daily basis. With the right social strategy, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. If you want to book a 30 minute consultation to discuss strategy, click below.
