Thankful Thursday 11.14.19

I have loved taking the time to write down something I am thankful for each day. To be honest, some days I have had to sit and think about it for a minute or two. I’m hoping after the practice of doing this all month long I won’t have to think about it as long and I will learn to focus on the positive.

I think it is human nature to focus on the negative for some reason. When someone asks how your day was, do you jump to the positive or negative first? I am trying to re-wire my brain to focus on the positive before anything else.

Let’s get into what I was thankful for this past week.

Friday 11.8.19 – I am thankful for flexible work hours. I have never had a job that did not have fixed “office hours”. I always had to be in the office at 8 am or 9 am and work until 5 pm or 6 pm. This job is different. I usually get to the office between 8 am and 9 am and leave when my work is done. We went to a San Jose Sharks hockey game last night, and I was tired this morning. It was nice to be able to take my time, and not worry about being late for work.

Saturday 11.9.18 – Today I am thankful for grocery delivery services. It is so nice to have someone else shop for and deliver my groceries while I am working, or cleaning the apartment. Not to mention I have to carry everything and produce is heavy.

Sunday 11.10.19 – I am so thankful for a true day of rest. I did two loads of laundry today, cooked meals, and rested. It was so nice to no have one single thing on my to-do list, especially with the holidays approaching.

Monday 11.11.19 – I am thankful for chill moments with co-workers. When we decided to take the leap and move to San Francisco, I knew I would love the city and the experiences, but I didn’t know if I would love my co-workers. I know that you don’t have to love, or even like the people you work with, but when you are moving away from everyone you know and love you hope to like a few of them. After 10 months I can say that friendships are forming and I love when we all have a few minutes to stand around and chat.

Tuesday 11.12.19 – I try to take my lunch to work as often as possible so I don’t have to eat out every day. I don’t like sitting at my desk all day without moving though, so I am thankful that I can take lunchtime walks around the block.

Wednesday 11.13.19 – Today I am thankful for productive meetings. Have you ever sat in a meeting all day long and walked out feeling like nothing was accomplished? I bet you have. We were in a meeting all day today. When I left at the end of the day I felt like a lot of decisions were made, and things were accomplished, which is a great feeling.

Thursday 11.14.19 – I was so busy today it was crazy. I had a meeting in San Jose and a million things on my to-do list. I had to meet a coworker in the lobby of my building so he could ride with me. I decided to go downstairs five minutes early so I could sit in silence for a minute, enjoy my coffee, and collect my thoughts. I am thankful for that moment.

What are you thankful for this week?
