Let the fall baking begin! I was in the mood to bake all the fall foods last weekend, so I made this pumpkin bread and an apple crisp.
There are a ton of apple crisp recipes out there, this on is my favorite. I found a few different recipes on Pinterest, then combined them and changed a few things to make it my own.
What you need:
- 6 apples peeled and chopped (I used 4 Honeycrisp and 2 Granny Smith)
- 2 TBS sugar
- 2 Tsp ground cinnamon, divided
- 2 TBS lemon juice
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
- pinch of salt
What you do:
- Preheat oven to 350
- Butter or spray an 8×8 pan
- Combine chopped apples, sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and lemon juice. Stir to combine, then transfer to the buttered pan.
- In a separate bowl combine brown sugar, oats, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and diced cold butter.
- Use a pastry cutter, two forks, or your hands to combine the mixture
- Spread topping over apples in prepared dish *You can top with apple pie spice for some added flavor*
- Bake for 40-50 munites until golden brown and bubbly
We like to serve ours warm with some vanilla ice cream.
