Apple Crisp Recipe

Let the fall baking begin! I was in the mood to bake all the fall foods last weekend, so I made this pumpkin bread and an apple crisp.

There are a ton of apple crisp recipes out there, this on is my favorite. I found a few different recipes on Pinterest, then combined them and changed a few things to make it my own.

What you need:

  • 6 apples peeled and chopped (I used 4 Honeycrisp and 2 Granny Smith)
  • 2 TBS sugar
  • 2 Tsp ground cinnamon, divided
  • 2 TBS lemon juice
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
  • pinch of salt

What you do:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Butter or spray an 8×8 pan
  3. Combine chopped apples, sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and lemon juice. Stir to combine, then transfer to the buttered pan.
  4. In a separate bowl combine brown sugar, oats, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and diced cold butter.
  5. Use a pastry cutter, two forks, or your hands to combine the mixture
  6. Spread topping over apples in prepared dish *You can top with apple pie spice for some added flavor*
  7. Bake for 40-50 munites until golden brown and bubbly

We like to serve ours warm with some vanilla ice cream.
